I don't think by any means they need an Indiana guy. They need a good basketball coach. There are many good basketball coaches out there, and that's really what was needed. That's what they did when they hired coach Davis, and that's what they've done now.

I played against his team in the Final Four and what I noticed was that they played the right way. They were disciplined, hard-nosed and tough. If Indiana fans want to get back to being tough, I think he's the right guy.

Indiana State? That was the last game before our conference. And we've geared our guys toward that.

This is his first season in two years, so he's got to make sure he rests his legs, stays off his feet. He's not to a point where he can just come out and fire his shot. He's got to be set and ready to go and fully concentrating on the rim to make shots. It's good to see him back on track. We need that same thing out of him the rest of the year.

Young kids, man. It's always consistency with them, you know that.

Everything I know of Kelvin Sampson is positive. What I can remember is his teams were very disciplined, they played hard and they played the game the right way.

To me, it doesn't matter where Indiana gets their basketball coach. Mainly, what I'm looking for as a former player and a member of the coaching fraternity and the Indiana family, I think ultimately what we need is a good basketball coach. We don't necessarily need a 'name.' We need a good basketball coach.

Finally. The key word is finally. Hopefully, we never have to take a road trip like this seven-gamer again.

Our kids kept us in the game with sheer work ethic and will. Northwestern off its win over Iowa is just a juggernaut at this point.

I think any time you've got an opportunity to coach at a top-five program, you've certainly got to take a long, hard look at it.
