Relationships are mirrors for us: We often see in another what we must learn for ourselves. It is a brilliant system – in helping yourself, you are also helping your friend. Illness, accidents, loss – these are our greatest teachers. If I had not become ill and spent years recovering, I would not be where I am today.

Remember: writing with a pen and paper is much more powerful than simply thinking about the task.

And face-to-face interaction is vital: a tea date, a walk together--anything in person so that two sets of eyes can gaze upon each other and arms can reach out in a warm embrace, exchanging energy.

You are a courageous human. I know this because you are reading this book! You want a shift, and I guarantee that it is possible if you do the work. And do you know what is tremendously beautiful? As you do the work, you are not only helping yourself but all of humanity. It is the ultimate hundredth monkey effect: if enough people change, we can create changes in areas of the globe where we have never even visited.

When enough people decide to do the work, it keeps enough energy of love and grace here to supply other people with it when they need it. And when they take it, they begin to flower and change the world, too. This is grace in action: by healing yourself, you heal your fellow humans.

We are not meant to be alone, and we aren't meant to do our soul work alone--we need each other.
