All the material needed to do the work is here, and we have some volunteers who would be willing to help. All it would take is somebody who is handy and really cares about wanting to make sure the the job is done right.

They did exactly what they came to do. They knew that Hernando County was supporting the Confederacy, and they were determined to stop it.

It took decades for things to get back to what they once were before the war. Some families lost everything they had in the raid.

As a historian, I'm grateful for any opportunity to show people what life was like back when the county was just getting established. To me, knowing how everyday life was back then gives us a perspective as to how far we have come since.

The museums are vital links to our community's past. The support we receive from the community helps to make sure that they will be here for future generations to enjoy.

People seem to marvel at how primitive it all seemed. But when you consider what life was like in Florida 30 or 40 years before, it's amazing how things progressed.

I've been trying to get it done for a long time.
