The girls have persevered. All the credit goes to them.

I didn't understand what was going on. I was told they said we didn't show them any respect.

In a playoff system like this, one bad game and you go home. But this is all new for us. We can build on this.

I hope we can have another good year with the players we have back, but we're going to have a difficult schedule. We are going to schedule a lot more teams throughout the state and play in more tournaments.

It just really feels awesome. We honored the last team to win a division title at homecoming and a lot of those players were on hand for this win. Our girls were really happy to be able to put a banner beside the one they hung 20 years ago.

The season starts over next week. It's something they have worked hard for all year; it will be fun.

We're taking it one game at a time. The big thing is to play as a team and to stay focused. We don't look too far ahead.

We want this to be our coming out party. Laurel plays in the state's toughest district. There are no slackers in that division with Wayne County. We have to get up for this game.

We really, believe it or not, never really talked about it. It's been 20 years since a St. Martin girls' team has won a district championship and that's what our goal is right now.

That was the turning point, for sure. The rebounding gave us second and third chances, which we converted into points.
